Black Prince Tomato

Description

Originally from Siberia, this is one of the most popular and favoured black tomatoes. This is a fairly early tomato, and one that is more apt to set fruit in cool climates. The small, slightly pear-shaped fruits begin maturing a little more than 2 months after planting.

These deep garnet red, glossy, 6-8cm (50-100g) tomatoes are full of juice and incredibly rich fruity flavours. This is a tomato that chefs rave about for it's rich flavours. The small fruits contain deep rich colours on the inside. Perfect for patio gardens. Perfect for eating fresh or for use in cooking or tomato sauce. A good canning tomato.

The Black Prince tomato is said to have considerable health benefits beyond the presence of lycopene. It's popularity has grown so much in Russia that there is now a company in Volograd that is producing an extract of the Black Prince called "Black Prince Tomato Oil.

Vigorous and productive vines grow best in tall cages. Mid-Season. 70 days.

Indeterminate (vine) variety.
