Description

(Capsicum annuum) The Pimento, Pimiento or Cherry Pepper is a variety of large, smooth, heart-shaped pepper that measures 7-10 cm long and 5-7 cm wide. This pretty pepper is most commonly used to flavour Pimiento cheese and also to stuff green Manzano olives to balance out the saltiness. The plants produce heavy yields of green fruits that mature to bright red. The flesh of the pimento is very thick, sweet, succulent and more aromatic than that of the red bell pepper. Pimento peppers are some of the mildest peppers around, measuring only 500 – 1,000 Scoville Units, compared to the popular Jalapeno pepper which measures in at 2,500 – 8,000 Scoville Heat Units.

Excellent for canning, pickling, casseroles, garnishes and, of course, in the classic cheese spread. Plants are small and perfect for containers.
