Description

(Tanacetum vulgare) Perennial plant growing to 120cm tall. Fern-like, aromatic leaves, with a fragrance reminiscent of camphor and rosemary. Mature plants produce heads of attractive yellow button-like flowers, interesting when grown at the back of an herb garden, in rock gardens or as garden edges and borders.

Tansy is most frequently grown as an ornamental garden plant, for its ability to add potassium into the soil and as a companion plant. It is used by textile artists as a natural dye and dried for floral arrangements. Dried tansy has historically been used to repel insects like moths, flies, mosquitoes and ants. Hang fresh bunches around doors in summer. Use dried leaves for use in storing winter clothes.

WARNING: Potentially toxic - Do not take internally. Can be wildly invasive.
