Purple Top White Globe Turnip

Description

A popular market variety, this is probably the most widely grown turnip in the world. A pre-1880 heirloom, productive and easy to grow. The medium-green cut-leaf tops average 45cm tall and can be used as cooked greens. Slightly tapered globe shaped roots, purple above ground and white below ground, best for eating when 8-10cm in diameter but remain in good condition until quite large. Flesh is crisp, sweet, mild and fine-grained. Stores well. 45-65 days.
