Description
This tried and tested variety has good canker resistance and reliably crops well on virtually any soil type, including shallow soils. With a delicious sweet flavour, White Gem Parsnip is a broad shouldered, smooth skinned and short rooted variety. Ideal for roasting and adding to warming winter casseroles.
Sow directly in cropping position, 6mm deep, in rows 40cm apart. Sow thickly as germination is irregular and water well until plants are established. Thin out gradually to 20cm apart. Parsnips do best in an open, sunny position. The root flavour will improve after exposure to cool conditions. Seedlings emerge 21-28 days. Harvest 18-20 weeks.
