Description

This delightfully strange yet lovely tomato is an indeterminate, mid-season paste-type tomato, originating in Naples, Italy. Lavishly pleated pink fruits come in all sizes up to 300g, sometimes a bit more. The name means "toothed" in German, and slices certainly present this appearance.

Thick walled, semi-hollow fruit are firm and mild-tasting, great for stuffing, roasting or sauces with a flavourful, firm & meaty flesh and few seeds. This is considered a paste/sauce type and the flesh is a little dry, so you may want to look for a juicier tomato for fresh eating or slicing on sandwiches.

Very productive, even in hot and dry conditions and even though the foliage starts to look a little "wispy" near the end of the season. These firm fruits also hold up very well on the vine so you can wait a few days to pick a large batch all at once for your sauce needs. Good insect and disease resistance and seems resistant to bruising, likely to transport better than many other heirloom varieties. 80 days.

Indeterminate (vine) variety.

Seeds/Packet: (min. 20 Seeds)
