This is a highly productive variety and will require a tall (and strong) trellis - it can grow to over 2.5m tall. Beans are best harvested when they are young otherwise they tend to get a little bit stringy.
This homesteaders’ heirloom was first listed in 1864 under the name of Texas Pole. It was not until 1877 that it was introduced as Kentucky Wonder by James J.H. Gregory & Sons and has been popular ever since. It is a pole bean with 15-20cm green pods that are very tender when cooked and have a great flavour. 65 days.
